David Philip Reesman
D. Philip Reesman's life as a musician began at the age of five with the Suzuki Method in Athens, Georgia. After studying with various teachers across the Southeast, he returned to Athens to study music at the University of Georgia. After earning his Bachelor of Music in Performance, he went on to earn a Master of Music degree in violin performance from Michigan State University. Reesman continues to perform solo, chamber, and orchestral repertoire across the state of Georgia as a professional violinist.
Mr. Reesman is as committed to music education as he is to his own pursuit of musical expression. Following in his grandfather's footsteps, he hopes to bring the joy of music to future generations by teaching others to understand and enjoy music through performance. Mr. Reesman holds a Bachelor of Music in Education from the University of Georgia and currently teaches at Brookwood High School as Director of Orchestras. Additionally, he holds a small studio of private violin students from his home in Atlanta, Georgia.
Philip's venture into popular music began in high school when he joined a band to cover "The Likes of You Again" by Flogging Molly. Black Eyed Susan, as the band became known, covered music by Flogging Molly and The Decemberists as well as writing a few songs of their own. In college, he joined the classic rock cover band Velvet Runway that fellow Sinfonians had begun a few years earlier in Athens, Georgia. The band continues to play across Atlanta and the Southeast at bars, restaurants, weddings and other private parties. Philip also writes and records original music from his home studio.
